10 kinds of oxygen sensor fault manifestations, causes and troubleshooting

The oxygen sensor transmits the measured value of air fuel ratio in the automobile engine to its PCM/ECU automobile computer for corresponding adjustment. It also takes into account atmospheric pressure, altitude and ambient/engine temperature (among other things) to determine whether the engine is burning a lean mixture or a rich mixture.
The following are 10 common oxygen sensor failures:
Continuously failed emission tests
The instrument cluster flashes or lights up (check engine light)
Misfire, idling or stalling
Poor fuel economy/high fuel consumption
Poor engine performance
